Revlon Brushes - 16th March, 2012
Revlon Brushes

I am a huge makeup brush collector so I can’t help myself when I see makeup brushes in store or even on the internet, I feel like I need to see someone about this little obsession that I have but I guess most makeup girls have something their obsessed about.
I picked up the Revlon Double Ended Smokey Eye brush which is a two-in-one slanted eyeliner and smudge dome brush to create a smoldering eye look and the Contour Shadow brush which is an ultra soft, all natural hair with a rounded, slanted tip to create beautiful definition and contrast.
I love both of these brushes because the bristles are extremely soft and work well with any eyeshadow that you may have, the double ended brush is good for packing a base colour eyeshadow on the lip with the slanted eyeliner brush is amazing at applying shadow liner or gel liner. The contour shadow brush is perfect at blending colour together or deepening the colour in the crease, I am a big fan of contour brushes because I love blending in my eyeshadows.
Makeup brushes are never the cheapest products to buy unless they’re not made well but these two Revlon brushes are made extremely well, so paying a little bit more in price for these brushes didn’t bother me because I knew they’ll last me a long time.
With most well-made brushes if you look after them and clean them right then it’s going to be well worth the price you spend on them, they can last you years which is better than buying cheaper brushes and having to replace them after a few months. So I know that I’m not going to have to repurchase this brushes anytime soon because they’re going to last me a long time, so if you’re in the market for good brushes than take a look at the Revlon brushes.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio - 15th March, 2012
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio

Yet another eyeliner set from Physicians Formula that has one for a smokey eye and one for a nude eye, I usually always go for a nude eye but I thought I might try the smokey eye set to step out of my comfort zone.
These eyeliners are another twist up kind so again when the tip wears down it becomes more rounded, which I find harder to use then because I like thin lines along my top lash line and with a rounded tip it’s hard to get a thin line. I use these eyeliners with a light hand because I don’t want anything too harsh or dark on my pale skin, I just think it doesn’t look right on my skin tone or my eye shape.
The colours are very buildable if you’re someone who likes dark smokey eyes but if you use a light hand then you can still wear them but just not as dark, I would have preferred if the eyeliners didn’t have shimmer in them but I still do like the slight shimmer that the eyeliners bring to your eyes.
I found that they only started to crease at the end of the day and that’s with an eyeshadow primer, so that’s pretty good in my books as a lot of eyeliners and eyeshadows crease on my oily eyelids. Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliners aren’t really the cheapest eyeliner set but they are worth the price, so if you have some extra money to spend on a good eyeliner set then I’d suggest you at least try these out.
I do prefer eyeliner pencils more than the twist up kind but that’s only because I can sharpen them so I always have a pointed tip, but if that doesn’t bother you or you actually like a thicker line of eyeliner than you need to give these eyeliner sets a try. They’re creamy enough in the formulation so they don’t tug on your skin and the staying power is impressive, I probably won’t repurchase these just because I prefer the pencil eyeliners.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Kohl Eyeliner - 14th March, 2012
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Kohl Eyeliner

This set of eyeliners from Physicians Formula that come in sets of three and are available for brown, blue, and green eyes, so I naturally tried out the set for blue eyes because I’m all for any makeup products that will make my eyes look more wide and more awake.
The pencils are short with a really long pointed tip but they don’t twist up, so there is no more liner than what you actually see. So eventually once that part is gone, the pencil is used up basically. These Kohl Kajal liners are meant to be worn in the inner eye rim safely. They are hypoallergenic, dermatologist approved, safe for sensitive eyes, gluten free and safe for contact lens wearers. They also claim to have 100% waterproof wear.
Now I wear contact lens for most days that I also wear makeup but I don’t usually wear eyeliner on my tight or water line, but I decided to try these eyeliners on my water line and within minutes the eyeliner had smudged under my eye which is not an attractive look.
They are also prone to cracking and breaking off, so the tip breaking is probably a common issue people will have. There is no way of sharpening them either, so eventually the tip will wear off and you’ll be left with a thicker liner. They aren’t the most affordable eyeliner set on the market and for the amount of product that you get isn’t worth it in my eyes, yes the way they’re packaged is very appealing but the actually usage that you get isn’t much at all.
So my overall opinion on the Physicians Formula Kohl Eyeliners isn’t all that good because I’m not going to repurchase them, I have oily eyelids so I always use an eyeshadow primer but these eyeliners still smudged and creased fairly quickly which isn’t a good sign for me. But this is just my opinion so I’m sure some people love these eyeliners, but they just aren’t for me.

NYC Lip Plumper - 12th March, 2012
NYC Lippin’ Large Lip Plumper

Now what girl doesn’t want larger and fuller lips? Most of us girls do want a fuller pout so the cosmetic companies have had a field day with bring out different lip plumpers, now so do work for different people while others don’t work. Lip plumpers are either a hit or miss with most people as we are all different so not every product is going to work on everyone in the world.
At first I wasn’t really sure about lip plumpers because having a lip gloss that also plumpers your lips seemed too good to be true, but I gave in and tried NYC Lippin’ Large lip plumper in Toffee Kiss and I was pleasantly surprised because my lips were slightly fuller after the first use.
Toffee Kiss is a sheer brown tone much like toffee but the colour isn’t so pigmented that it looks weird especially if you’re pale like I am, I normally go for pinks or corals but Toffee Kiss is a sheer lip gloss so it looks more natural which is a nice change.
NYC Lippin’ Large lip plumper are one of the most affordable lip plumpers on the market which is amazing news for all of use makeup lovers out there, this lip plumper gives your lips a tingling sensation but it actually feels nice because it’s not a burning or painful sensation like other lip plumpers do (or so I’ve read).
It took a minute or two before I saw any change to my lips which I think is still pretty fast and when my lips did become slightly more fuller it still looked natural, I hate the overdone look that people get when they have plastic surgery but this lip plumper gives a natural effect which is great for my thinner lips.
I don’t really have any negative things to say about NYC Lippin’ Large Lip Plumper because the formulation is silky and smooth, not sticky at all which is good news because no hair is going to get stuck in your lip gloss like other brands lip gloss does when they’re on the more sticky side. So if you haven’t tried a lip plumper yet but you want to, then I say just try the NYC lip plumper to see how you like them and with them being rather cheap is just a bonus.

Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner - 13th March, 2012
Maybelline Unstoppable Eye Liner
I’m always on the lookout for an eyeliner that is creamy so it’s easy to apply but doesn’t crease or smudge, which is hard to do when you have oily eyelids like I do because if I don’t use a good eyeshadow primer than any product that I have on my eyelids will be crease within a few hours. I also just like to try out new products which is the best way to find those must have products.
I tried Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx because I’m quiet pale and I have blue eyes so black eyeliner tends to look harsh on my skin tone, Onyx in a dark blue which really makes my blue eyes pop which every girl loves. I actually come upon this product by a friend of mine and I was presently surprised because when I use an eyeshadow primer under this eyeliner than it doesn’t smudge until later in the day, which is amazing for my oily eyelids so I’d going to buy this product again.
The price is affordable and can be found in any ‘drugstore’ type store (in Australia we don’t call any store a drugstore), this product would be good for a student like myself because the price isn’t on the high side unlike other eyeliners out there that do the same thing.
I found Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner to be very creamy in the formulation so I thought it would crease or smudge which it didn’t until the end of the day, because this eyeliner is creamy it’s very easy to apply so it’s good for girls who are just starting to use eyeliner and want something that’s easy to use.
This eyeliner is one of the twist up ones which is fine for me but I can see this type of eyeliner stick maybe snapping on some people, I’ve also always found with the twist up eyeliners that the eyeliner tip wears down after you use it for a while and then the tip turns rounded which isn’t the best when you want a thin line or a cat eye flick.
But overall Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx is a good affordable eyeliner that is very creamy and a must have for younger girls just starting with makeup, or for people who still like to buy makeup but don’t have the money to buy high end makeup products.

Urban Decay NYC Palette - 11th February, 2012
Urban Decay NYC Palette

Another amazing palette from Urban Decay and again I am in love with this palette, there is a pull out drawer with the products and a top cover that opens with a pop-up display and mirror. In the case of the NYC palette the display is lit which gives the pop up display a cool city feel.
There are sixteen eyeshadows with two 24-7 Glide On eyeliners in the colours Zero and Ransom and a mini Primer Potion, so if you think about everything that you get in this palette then the price is far worth it in my eyes because of the quality of the products that you get. The eyeliners are a basic black and a gorgeous metallic purple that can be paired with a lot of shadows. Swatching them on my hand they felt extremely smooth and distributed pigment well, never clumping up.
Now I’m not a big lover of colour in my eye makeup but having this palette has let me experiment with a pop of colour in my everyday look, most of the shadows are unique which means Urban Decay have thought this palette through. I love the depth of all the colours and they all look great.
Looking at the box it makes you instantly feel a burst of creativity, from the embossed lid to the pop-up underneath. This palette is made of very durable cardboard, it feels very sleek and smooth to the touch. If you get the opportunity to buy or try this palette then I would say go for it because you won’t be disappointed.
